3 Ways to Clean Your Pillows

1 – Machine wash and dry

Most pillows, especially microfibers, polyesters, shredded foams, and down alternatives, are machine washable and dryable. Remove the cover or all of the pieces, before you throw it in the washing machine. Don’t leave everything on one side, be sure to balance the load.

Use a delicate detergent and put a tube sock instead of a tennis ball.

Use a gentle cycle and don’t turn it on too high of a heat because it can burn the feathers. If you pull it out and it smells, hand test it, and see if there are clumps in there. Add the tennis ball and give it more time to dry.

2 – Hand clean or spot clean

This method applies to latex or memory foam pillows. Add detergent to a washcloth, and dab it into the area. Wring it out then allow it to fully dry. Place it outside or place it beside a window, if possible. The pillow cover may be removable and could be machine washable.

3 – Not washing at all

Buckwheat hulls are hard, crispy filling. They get soggy when wet and you can’t use them anymore. Remove the filling, and machine wash and dry the cover. Once dry, put the buckwheat hulls back in before you use it.
