#1 Sweep, Dust Mop, or Vacuum First

Make sure to sweep the floor first to remove all small dirt, debris, or hair from the surface. When you encounter any large debris, pick it up instead of sweeping it to avoid scratches.

#2 Choose The Right Cleaner

The Bona hardwood floor cleaner has neutral pH cleaners which means they’re not going to leave any residue or a dry sticky feel after use. Vinegar is also not a great idea to use on wood surfaces because the acid in vinegar can wear away the finish over time.

#3 Don’t Use Too Much Water

Don’t overwet your floors as this can lead to swelling, splintering, or popping. Mix your cleaner on a spray bottle so you can control the amount of water you’ll use to clean your floors.

#4 Always Mop with the Grain

This will ensure that you don’t leave any streaks behind. It’s also a good strategy to go in a snake pattern when you mop to grab anything that might still be on the floor and remove it as you clean.

#5 Protect Your Wood Floors

You can do this by adding felt tabs to all of your furniture that sits on the wood floor. Also, be mindful of any spots or spills as they can damage your wood floor.
