There’s nothing better than spending your time with family and friends whether at a cookout, party, or picnic! That’s why it’s a good idea to have a place around your house to hang out, just like this DIY firepit area Kat Swisher on YouTube. It’s so simple but super cozy and pretty, plus, the step-by-step guide is so easy to follow even if you’re a beginner.

Materials:

  • Landscape fabric
  • Landscape edging
  • Concrete Bricks
  • Sika post hole foam
  • Fire pit bowl insert
  • Gravel
  • Chairs
  • Hanging chairs

Lumber

  • (2) 4×4 10 ft posts
  • (1) 4×4 6 ft post
  • (2) 2×6 10 ft

Tools

  • Shovel
  • Wheelbarrow
  • Post hole digger
  • Rake
  • Power drill
  • Miter saw
  • Level

Directions:

Step 1

Figure out the area or spot where you’d like to install your fire pit, then insert a piece of metal at the center, tie a string and spray paint at the other end, and measure out about 15 feet diameter circle. Start digging out the circle making sure to even it out, then grab the bricks, and build the firepit at the center of the area you dug making about 3 layers of brick. Cover the entire area with landscape fabric to prevent the weeds from growing, then install the plastic edging around, and place the fire pit bowl on the layered bricks.

Step 2

Spread the gravel around the landscape fabric and level it out, then dig 2 post holes, and insert two 10-foot 4*4 posts. Apply some Sika foam or cement to the hole where the posts are to stabilize and secure them in place. Attach 2*6 lumbers to the front and the back of the 10-foot posts, then install braces on each side as well, at this point, you can cut 2*4 lumbers at an angle to create a pergola. Stain the wood, then cut some 4*4 blocks and attach the metal ring to hang your chairs in, and install these to the 10-foot posts. Place the chairs and light your fire pit and you’re all done!
