Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons of Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 teaspoons of hickory liquid smoke
  • ½ teaspoon of soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon of hot sauce
  • ¼ cup of brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons of cornstarch
  • ½ teaspoon of salt
  • ½ teaspoon of onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon of dried oregano
  • ½ teaspoon of dried basil
  • ½ teaspoon of paprika
  • ¼ teaspoon of black pepper
  • 1 generous pinch of cayenne pepper
  • 3 garlic cloves
  • 12 chicken drumsticks

Directions:

Step 1

In a blender, mix together the ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, liquid smoke, soy sauce, hot sauce, brown sugar, cornstarch, salt, onion powder, oregano, basil, paprika, pepper, cayenne pepper, and garlic cloves, puree until they are well combined and smooth. Separate the sauce into 2 portions, set the other aside for glaze when serving, and use the other. Brush this mixture generously onto the chicken drumsticks making sure to cover both sides evenly.

Step 2

If you want to bake the chicken, then put the drumsticks onto a baking sheet, and bake them in a preheated oven at 375 degrees for about 45 minutes. If you are grilling them, then preheat an outdoor grill to about 400 degrees, and oil the grate well. Put the drumsticks in and sear one side, flip, then brush with more barbecue sauce. Once the other side is seared, then brush on more sauce, and remove from direct heat. Reduce the heat to low and let it cook until the insides of the drumsticks are at 165 degrees. Best served hot.
