These glue batik t-shirts are inspired by traditional batik. Batik is a textile made by hand where artisans use wax to create a design, and then dye the cloth, which resists the vegetable dyes.

Originally from Indonesia, batik has symbolic meanings in its colors and designs, and people use the craft to express their creativity and even spirituality.

In this easy project, she substitutes hot wax for Aleene’s Tacky Glue and conveys her own creativity by choosing images that represent what she loves, and colorful paint that reflects her personality.

You can use blue Elmer’s gel glue to do the same DIY project, achieving the results. You can easily wash the glue out in your washing machine, after your project has completely dried.

Other ideas for this technique are to cut canvas or cotton fabric into the desired size. You can go with a small piece and later make it into a framed artwork or you can work on a larger fabric sheet that you can subsequently sew into bandanas, bags, banners, flags, pillowcases, table cloths, and other projects.

Don’t forget that you can also do glue batik directly onto plain and light-colored shirts, canvas bags, aprons, pillow cases, summer dresses, etc.

Since I lover experiments, I’ve alwaysnloved to create, paint, as well as cook and style food. I feel in love with DIY as soon as I discovered it and could not have been more excited when I learned I could share projects with people around the world. Taking photos is a passion of mine, as is design and painting with oils. I love holidays and celebrations, crafting cute little gifts and serving up at least one new recipe I am excited about.
