Holiday season magic is enjoying its stay. A great appetizer is needed for the dinner table.  Shrimp cocktails have always been a classic appetizer staple. This holiday season, up your shrimp cocktail game with Kellie Hemmerly—The Suburban Soapbox’s easy and quick recipe. Upgraded with a zesty, flavorful homemade sauce thanks to ketchup, horseradish, lemon, Worcestershire sauce, and the spice of tabasco. The lemon slice ties it all together into a perfect condiment.

Ingredients:

  • 2 pounds of large shrimps
  • 3 garlic cloves 
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons crushed red pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon fresh ground pepper
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons horseradish
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon Tabasco sauce or other hot sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Lemon slices

Directions:  

Preheat the oven to 425F.

Wash and peel the shrimp shell, devein, and leave the tails on.

Mince 3 garlic cloves.

In a large mixing bowl, toss in the minced garlic, peeled shrimp, 2 tbsp of olive oil, 1 ½ crushed red pepper, ½ tsp of salt, and ½ tsp ground pepper. Toss and combine the mixture evenly.

Place a sheet of aluminum foil on top of the baking sheet. Spread the shrimp mixture on the aluminum foil in a single layer. Roast the shrimp in the oven for 810 minutes at 425°F. Transfer the roasted shrimp to a serving platter and set it aside.

In a small mixing bowl, stir in ½ cup ketchup, 2 tbsp of horseradish, 1 ½ tsp of lemon juice, 1 tsp of tabasco, and ½ tsp of Worcestershire sauce.

In a cocktail glass, pour in the sauce with a spoon and place the shrimp in the glass. Add a slice of lemon as garnish.
