It’s a good time to start planning summer projects for the kids, so put this one on the list! If you don’t have kids, this is still a clever project and it would make a great Mother’s Day gift too!

As you know, gardening and aprons are a match made in heaven. Tomatoes and cucumbers can be tossed in an oversized pocket, and larger fruits and veggies like watermelons can be carried in the pull-up aprons. I’ve also discovered that clothespin and utility aprons are just right for egg gathering (if you happen to have chickens). Have you made a gathering apron?

Or, maybe you just need an apron to carry around your gardening tools? This clever DIY project is perfect for this and all you need is a placemat and some wide ribbon. This is just about the easiest thing you could ever make…seriously!

You can use a utility apron (shorter and flatter than a regular apron) for lots of things – sewing, craft booth, if you’re a hairdresser (this is perfect!) – – basically anytime you wish you had an extra pocket!

Watch how the DIY Dish does this in their step by step tutorial so you and your children can do this together! It’s a great way to get them interested in sewing!

Since I lover experiments, I’ve alwaysnloved to create, paint, as well as cook and style food. I feel in love with DIY as soon as I discovered it and could not have been more excited when I learned I could share projects with people around the world. Taking photos is a passion of mine, as is design and painting with oils. I love holidays and celebrations, crafting cute little gifts and serving up at least one new recipe I am excited about.
