If you are not into complicated designs, try this pattern by Missouri Star. This is called the four patch frenzy quilt. As the name suggests, the block is made of a four patch and a rectangle. It’s a super easy project that you can finish in a weekend.

Make the four patch units. Cut each black and white fabric into 9 pieces of 2 1/2″ strips. Get one strip of black and one strip of white. Place them on top of each other and sew on the side with a 1/4″ seam allowance on the side. Once done, cut them into 2 1/2″ units. Put them on the iron board dark side up, set the seams, and press them open. This will help the seams nest perfectly. Get two of the units, place them together on opposite colors, and sew them with a 1/4″ seam allowance. It should be a 4 1/2″ square. Trim them if needed. You need 75 pieces of four patches.
Make the rectangles. Get the 10″ squares and cut them into 4 1/2″ strips. You will get 2 strips for each block and there will be a little bit of waste when you cut them.
Get one of the rectangles and sew one of four patches on the short end. Repeat with the other rectangles. Make sure that your four patches are going in the same direction.
Arrange the blocks. Put them in alternating directions. One four-patch down and one four-patch up – repeat the alternating pattern until you have 15 blocks across. Press it open. Repeat the process for the other rows. You will need 5 rows for this quilt. Once done, sew the rows together. After the quilt top is done, add a four-inch border all the way around.
