This jelly roll pillow is the cutest thing I’ve ever seen. When I found this awesome jelly roll pillow with faux pleats, by Fat Quarter Shop on Youtube, I knew I needed to made one immediately. This pleated pillow is super easy because jelly rolls are all pre-cut strips, so they make one of the most user-friendly choices for quilt crafters. The jelly roll strips are so awesome because the edges are almost always cut with pinking shears so the edges of the fabric will not fray. One thing that I really love about the jelly roll bundles is the fact that they are so darn cute, they are wrapped up in an attractive little circle and tied with a pretty ribbon, that makes them a very attractive gift that anyone would love. This jelly roll faux pleated pillow is one of the easiest projects I have ever come across and the pillow almost seems to make itself.

Materials:

  • 1 jelly roll bundle
  • Backing fabric (see the tutorial for exact measurements)
  • Thread
  • A sewing machine
  • A pillow (to insert into your quilted case)
  • Scissors
  • A ruler
  • A rotary cutter (makes things go quickly)

Directions:

The directions in this awesome video tutorial by Fat Quarter Shop are so easy and simple to follow. You just fold the jelly roll strips in half and iron them down.

Then, you just sew the, folded and ironed,  jelly roll strips onto the backing fabric. This method is similar to the quilt as you go method.

I love everything about this quilting project, especially the fact that it is so easy!
