Ingredients:

  • 2 to 2 1/2 lb baby back pork ribs
  • salt and ground black pepper, to taste

BBQ Sauce:

  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/4 cup finely diced onion
  • 1/2 tsp ground cumin
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1 tbsp hot chili sauce
  • 2 tbsp light brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • salt and ground black pepper, to taste

Directions:

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 275 degrees F. Next, remove the thin membrane covering the rack of your ribs. (Depending on your ribs, this may already be done). After this, cut the rack in half, then place it in your baking dish. Now, start seasoning. Rub salt and ground black pepper to taste on both sides, then cover the baking dish with aluminum foil. Place it in the preheated oven and bake for three hours. In the meantime, make the sauce.

Step 2

In a pan over medium heat, add 1 tbsp olive oil and saute the diced onion. Once softened, season with 1/2 tsp ground cumin, and stir. Once fragrant, add 1/2 cup ketchup, 1 tbsp hot chili sauce, 2 tbsp light brown sugar, 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar, and salt and ground black pepper to taste. Stir and cook for a couple of minutes.

Step 3

Back to the ribs, once they’re done baking, remove them from the oven, and transfer them to the aluminum foil while you drain the juices from the baking dish. Now, add the sauce on both sides of the ribs and transfer them back to the baking dish. Place them under a hot broiler for five minutes to caramelize the sauce, then serve.
