Step 1

In a food processor or large bowl, add the sifted flour, sugar, salt, baking powder, and cinnamon, then give them a good mix until uniform and combined, add in the shortening or butter, and keep mixing until evenly combined.

Step 2

Mix the egg and water in a measuring cup until combined, then slowly pour it into the flour mixture, and mix them until dough forms. Dust the clean counter with flour, then transfer the dough to it, and roll it to ¼ inch thick.

Step 3

Brush the top with softened butter, then sprinkle a generous amount of brown sugar and cinnamon, and then sprinkle a layer of raisins. Roll the dough, then cut into 1½ inch pieces, and set them aside.

Step 4

Mix together the butter and sugar until creamy, then spread it to the bottom and sides of a baking pan or oven-safe skillet, and place the cut cinnamon buns in the prepared pan with the cut side down.

Step 5

Allow them to sit for about 15 minutes, place them in a preheated oven at 425°F, and bake for about 25 minutes. Once done baking, remove them from the oven, then turn them upside down on a serving plate, and serve. Enjoy!
