This is one of my favorite patterns of all time, I’ve already tried different variations of this and they all came out beautiful.

So, if you’re looking for a project that you can make to pass the time or simply need a new quilt block to practice your skills with, then I highly recommend that you give this sugar bowl quilt block a try, and you might just love it. Watch the video tutorial below now.
Step 1
Cut the fabrics to size, then get a dark blue rectangle, and place a yellow square on each end. Stitch them diagonally, then trim off the excess with ¼ seam allowance, and press it open. Do the same steps to make a flying geese unit with the white rectangle and dark blue squares. Stack the white and dark blue squares, then line the back of the lighter fabric diagonally, and stitch on either side ¼ inch away.
Step 2
Cut them apart in half along the line, then press open, and trim them to 2½ inches. Stitch the background square to the bottom of the half-square triangles, then stitch the dark blue rectangle to the bottom of the dark blue flying geese unit, and press them open. Assemble the background and dark blue units into a row as shown in the video, then stitch them together, and press the seams as you go.
Step 3
Sew the dark blue and yellow flying geese units to each side of the large yellow square, then sew the light blue squares to each side of the other yellow flying geese units, and then stitch them together into a block. Stitch the side units to the center unit as demonstrated in the video and give them a good press.
