If you love sewing dolls out of random fabrics that you could find, in this case, a sock, then surely you’ll find this sewing project by Hello Sewing on YouTube interesting! This fun project is also a great gift idea, it’s super cute and so huggable, too.
Step 1
Download, print, and cut the patterns. If you’re making an adult monkey, then all you need to cut are just the adult eyes and ears, and if you’re making a baby, cut only the baby eyes and ears. Make sure to wash the socks that you’ll be using, then turn them wrong side out, and lightly iron them. If your socks have a folded cuff, you’ll need to remove its stitches carefully, then iron the sock to stretch it out a bit. Get 2 socks, one for the body, head, and legs, then another for the remaining body pieces, and use the pattern to mark the sock accordingly. Now, start sewing the sock along those marked lines or about ¼” away from the cutting lines, then cut along those lines, round the corners of the limb and tail, and turn it right side out.

Step 2
Stuff the body section including the limbs and tail, make sure to put enough stuffing on the body and legs and form it well, you can make the sock monkey firm or soft, depending on your preference. Sew the opening with a ladder stitch about 1/8-inch away from the edge and close it. Wrap the thread around the needle a few times and run it through the puppet, then push the thread inside the puppet, and cut it off when the needle goes out at the other end. Roll the limbs between your palms to form the stuffing. Next, fill the ear section, fold the raw edge, and close the opening with a ladder stitch, repeat with the second ear. Pin all of the body parts in the place where they are assigned, then sew the arms, tail, and mouth with a slip stitch, and sew the eye. To make the mouth, first, draw where you want them to be, then fold the raw edge of the mouth and baste stitch it. Watch the video tutorial to see more details.
