This might look hard to make, but trust me – it’s not. You will surely be surprised how easy this pattern is. It’s called the snail trail patchwork quilt block. First, you need to make a four-patch for the center then the next steps are just repetitive. The sides are made from triangles sewn all the way around. I love how unique and simple this is. Even beginners can do this piece! If you want to learn how to make this design by Melody of Sewing, keep reading or watch the video below. Happy quilting!

Get the two pieces of rectangles and place them on top of each other. Sew on one side with a quarter of an inch seam allowance. Press the seams and flatten the top.
Cut the rectangles in half and make a four-patch. Sew them together with a quarter of an inch seam allowance. Once done, press the seams flat.
Place the two 3 1/2″ squares on top of each other, then place the ruler diagonally from corner to corner and cut. Place the triangles on the sides of the four-patch just like in the photo below and sew them. Press it flat and trim off the excess.
Place the 4 1/4″ squares on top of each other and cut them diagonally in half to make triangles. Place the triangles on the side of the block just like in the photo below and sew. Once done, press it flat again. Trim off excess.
Repeat step 4 with the 5 1/2″ squares. Just make sure you follow the right arrangement with the printed fabrics connected. Once done, press the block flat and trim off the excess fabric to turn it into a square.
