This is not your ordinary recipe because it includes a surprising secret ingredient, 7Up! Ingredients for Skillet 7Up Biscuits:

  • 2 cups of self-rising flour, sifted
  • 1 stick of butter, divided, freeze ½, and melt the other ½
  • ½ cup of sour cream or Greek yogurt
  • ½ cup of 7Up, Sprite, or lemon/lime-flavored soda

Step 1

Place a cast-iron skillet pan on a stove and preheat it to 425°F, then freeze half a stick of the butter for about 15 minutes, and grate it over a large mixing bowl.

Step 2

Add the flour and sour cream in the same bowl, then stir them together until evenly combined and coarse crumbs form, and pour in the soda.

Step 3

Continue to gently mix until just combined making sure not to overmix, a sticky dough should form, then take the preheated cast-iron skillet, and pour half a stick of melted butter into it.

Step 4

Brush some of the butter to the sides, then using a medium-sized or large cookie scoop, drop the biscuits into the pan as demonstrated in the video tutorial.

Step 5

Brush the top of the biscuits with some of the melted butter in the pan, then place the skillet back into the oven, and let the biscuits bake for about 18 to 20 minutes or until light golden brown.

Step 6

Once done baking, allow them to cool for about 5 to 10 minutes, then serve, and enjoy!
