During dinnertime, I always make sure to serve delicious home-cooked meals that the whole family will surely enjoy, and one of my favorite recipes to follow is this one by Come Sit At My Table on YouTube. This dish never fails to impress me and my family and it is also pretty easy to prepare, sometimes I even like to add a spicy twist to it, and of course, more cheese!

Ingredients:

  • (12-ounce) boxes of oven-ready lasagna noodles
  • 2 pounds of ground beef
  • 2 pounds of sausage
  • 1 large onion, diced
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • (15-ounce) cans of tomato sauce
  • (6-ounce) can of tomato paste
  • (14.5-ounce) cans of petite diced tomatoes
  • 1 tbsp of Italian seasoning
  • 24 ounces of cottage cheese
  • 1 cup of parmesan cheese, shredded
  • 1 tbsp of  parsley flakes
  • eggs, beaten
  • (8-ounce) packages of mozzarella cheese slices
  • Shredded mozzarella cheese

Directions:

Step 1

Place a pot on a stove over medium-high heat, then add the ground beef and sausage, and break them apart. Cook them until nice and brown, then drain off all the excess grease, and add the onion, garlic, tomato sauce, tomato paste, diced tomatoes, and Italian seasoning.

Step 2

Give them a good mix until combined, then allow them to simmer for about 20 to 30 minutes, and turn off the heat. In a large mixing bowl, add the cottage cheese, parmesan cheese, parsley flakes, and eggs, then mix them all together until well combined, and set them aside.

Step 3

Grease a 12″ x 17″ x 3″ with a nonstick cooking spray or butter, then spread a small amount of meat sauce at the bottom evenly, and place a single layer of lasagna noodles. Top them with 1/3 portion of the cottage cheese mixture, then place a layer of mozzarella slices on top evenly, and spread 1/3 portion of the meat sauce until covered.

Step 4

Repeat the layers two more times with the meat sauce at the very top, then spread a generous layer of shredded mozzarella cheese on top, and add some more parmesan cheese over them. Place the lasagna in a preheated oven at 350°F, then allow it to bake for about 45 minutes, and serve. Enjoy!
