A few weeks ago, I realized that my yard is missing some decorations and a few lights as well, and while searching for inspirations and ideas online, I stumbled upon this video tutorial by Kapper Outdoors Modern homestead on YouTube and I was immediately intrigued. I though I might as well give it a try since a have a few empty bottles that I can use for this project, plus, I can have both decor and lighting at the same time with this DIY tiki torch.

Materials:

  • Casting resin
  • Resin hardener
  • Jack Daniel’s empty bottle
  • Paint or color powder for resin
  • Tiki torch fuel
  • Coupling
  • Wick
  • Snuffer
  • Empty wine bottle
  • Blings
  • Roper or jute twine
  • Hot glue gun and glue sticks
  • Sand
  • Shells

Directions:

Step 1

Prepare and mix the resin according to the package instructions, then stir them together as instructed, and add the color that you want while stirring consistently. Pour the resin mix inside the bottle, then let it cure for about 72 hours, and once completely set, pour the fuel. Insert the wick and coupling, then hang the tiki torch, and light it up.

Step 2

For wine bottles, simply wrap the bottom part of the bottle with a rope attaching it with hot glue, then pour lots of bling inside, and add the fuel. Insert the wick and coupling, then hang it up wherever you want, and light it up.

Step 3

Another design you can try is by making a pattern with jute twine or thin rope, then wrapping it around the bottle, and securing it with hot glue. Pour sand inside, then top them with shells, and then add the fuel. Insert the wick and coupling, then hang it wherever you want, and light it up.
