There are a lot of reasons why your fridge may not be cooling, but one of the most common causes of these issues is quick or temporary outages which usually last for just about 3 to 5 seconds. This causes the system to go to stationary or protection mode to prevent the fridge from breaking. Luckily, there is a quick fix for such problems that only takes a few simple steps with the help of this video tutorial by DIY with Michael Borders on YouTube.

Directions:

Step 1

First, find the switch inside your refrigerator which also controls the light, then press it in and out 3 times to reset the control board, and wait 3 to 5 seconds before checking if the compressor in the back portion of your refrigerator is back up and running. If not, then go down to your freezer, and do the exact same thing with the reset button.

Step 2

Some may take 5 to 10 minutes to turn back on after the reset procedure, but if it still doesn’t work, then find the circuit breaker, and turn off the switch that is for the refrigerator, but you can also just pull the plug if you don’t want the circuit breaker step.

Step 3

Wait for about 5 minutes, then turn it back on or plug it in again, and do the 3-step reset. If it still doesn’t work, then reset the freezer as well, and monitor the temperature after 1 hour or more. Check if the temperature is working just fine.
