This simple and adorable quilt project idea by Sew Learn Create on YouTube is the perfect scrap buster and is also a great gift idea that you can make without having to spend a lot of money and within just a few minutes! I enjoyed making this quilt so much because of how easy they are to piece together and how quick it is to finish a single heart. You can also make your own heart pattern in various sizes and apply the same process as used and shown in this video tutorial.
Step 1
Print the heart pattern and cut it out, then pick the fabric strips that you want to use, and get a square paper. Take 1 fabric strip, then lay it on the center of the paper, and pin it in place. Get another fabric strip, then place it on top of the first strip with their right sides together, and sew them down the side. Finger press the fabric open, then lay the next strip on top of the strip you just sew making sure that their right sides facing, and sew them down one side all the way down. Continue to add more strips until the paper is covered, then flip it over, and repeat the same process until the other side is covered with fabric, too.

Step 2
Once done piecing the fabric strips together, then iron it flatly, and place the heart pattern on top. Trace the shape and cut it out, then do the same to the batting and backing fabric, and set them aside. Take the pieced heart and rip the paper at the back, then layer the pieces together with the backing at the bottom with its right side facing down, the batting at the center, and the pieced heart at the top with its right side facing up. Add a looped piece of fabric in between the layer of the batting and pieced heart so you can hang it if you want, then pin them together in place, and sew all around the sides. You can add more decorative stitching as you like, then trim the edges clean, and you’re done!
