If you’re a beginner quilter and have found this one of your current favorite hobbies ever, then this project idea is perfect for you! Here’s Carol Thelen on YouTube to teach you how to make this beautiful block using only a print fabric and a background fabric. It’s very simple to put together and you can finish a single block in just a few minutes.
Step 1
Cut your fabric into 10-inch squares or use layer cakes instead, then line the back of the lighter fabric diagonally from corner to corner, and lay it on top of a print fabric making sure their right sides are facing and edges are matching.

Step 2
Cut them in half along the line, then sew the triangles together on one side to turn them into half-square triangles, and press the seams open. Cut the half-square triangle into 4 sections equally making sure each section is at approximately 2-3/8 inches, then rotate the other half-square triangle so that it faces the other direction, and cut it into 4 equal sections as well.
Step 3
Switch the placement of the sections as shown in the video to form the block, then stitch them together one at a time, and press the seams as you go. Repeat the same steps with the other set, then continue to make more blocks, and assemble them according to the diagram or however you want. Finish your quilt as desired.
