Easy Quilt Block Using 5″ & 2″ Squares Tutorial

Materials:

• 5″ square
• 2″ square
• 1″ fabric strip
• 1 1/2″ fabric strip
• rotary cutter
• cutting mat
• pins

Directions:

Step 1

To start, place the 1″ strip on the top part of the 5″ square as well as on the side, sew them, and cut the excess. Next, create a strip set using the 1″ strip of fabric and 1 1/2″ strip, then attach it to the side of the 5″ square. Cut the excess strip set, then sew the 2″ square at the end of the strip. Once done, attach it to the other side of the 5″ square, connecting it to the strip set you sewn earlier. Trim the block afterward.

Step 2

Now, make as many of these blocks as you need for your desired quilt size. Then, just lay them all together (see the picture below for the quilt pattern), sew the rows, then sew those rows together to create the quilt top. Your quilt block is now finished!
