It is made from rectangles and squares, allowing you to clearly showcase the design of each fabric.

Start by using the rectangles from your pile of fabric scraps. This is a great way to reuse them instead of throwing them away. You can use these patchwork blocks for pillows, table runners, and quilts. In addition to the pattern shown in the photo above, there are many other designs you can create with this block. Get the four pieces of background squares and cut them in half diagonally from corner to corner.
Arrange the rectangles just like in the photo below.
Place the triangles on the end of the rectangles on the first two rows and the last two rows.
Get the 3 1/2″ background square and cut in half diagonally from corner to corner. Place the triangles on the top and bottom.
Get the 2″ background square and cut in half diagonally. Place the triangles on the sides of the middle row. See photo below for reference.
Start by sewing them in rows. Once the rows are done, sew them together to make the block. Press it flat, then trim into a 8 3/4 inch square.
