This lovely sewing tutorial by Hello Sewing on YouTube is a must-try this weekend. Having a quillow is very convenient because you can take it anywhere with you, especially if you are traveling, you can also give this as a gift to a loved one, or sell it. Read the easy-to-follow instructions now, then try it out, and see for yourself!

Materials:

  • A blanket or large fleece
  • Main fabric
  • Lining fabric
  • Needle and thread
  • Scissors and rotary cutter and a cutting mat
  • Ruler
  • Iron, for pressing
  • Fabric pins
  • Sewing machine

Directions:

Step 1

First off, fold your blanket nicely, then measure the width, and add an inch. Measure the length, then add 9 inches, and use these measurements to cut 2 of your cotton fabric. Lay the 2 fabrics together with their right sides facing, then pin them together, and sew all around leaving a gap of about 3 inches on one of the longer sides. Trim off the corners, then turn the fabric right side out through the gap, and poke the corners nicely.

Step 2

Fold the fabric in half and find the midpoint, then mark 4 inches from each short side, and then fold the fabric to meet the center marks making sure to overlap them as shown in the video. Pin them in place, then place the quillow cover over the corner of the blanket without folds, and pin them in place.

Step 3

Open the blanket, then adjust the position of the quillow, and stitch around the three sides of the quillow cover. Fold the blanket as you did earlier making sure that the quillow fabric is on the outside, then reach the edge of the blanket, and pull it inside the quillow cover neatly with the folded flaps on the outside.
