Get one of the 10″ squares and cut it in half. Put them in two separate piles. Out of one of the 5″ by 10″ rectangles, cut half an inch off and set it aside. That will be the body of the cat. On the other piece, cut a 3″ x 5″ piece and 2 pieces of 2 1/2 inch squares.
On your background, cut a 5″ strip. From that, cut a 5″ x 2 1/2″ rectangle and a 2 1/2″ square.
Take the 2 1/2″ background square and fold it in half diagonally from corner to corner to make a crease. Put it on the top right corner of the body of the cat. Sew right across the crease. Trim the corner just above the sewn line and roll it back.
Make the ears. Get the 2 pieces of 2 1/2″ printed squares and fold them in half diagonally to make a crease. Place them on each side of the 2 1/2″ background strip and sew them on the crease. Make sure they are going the right way. Trim off excess, then iron them. Next, sew it on the 3″ x 5″ strip. Once done, press it flat.
Take the 2 1/2″ square and attach it to the body. After that, sew it to the 5″ x 10″ rectangle to make the block. Press it open. Repeat the whole process several times to make the other blocks.
For this quilt, you need six blocks across and seven blocks across for a total of 42.
