I love baking bread and trying out new recipes, but there are times that I felt like they take too long to prepare, especially when I’m too busy to make them. That is when my curiosity for make-ahead meals or overnight recipes started. I find them more convenient and easier because I can still make them even if I’ve got a lot of things to do for the day. One of my favorite recipes recently is this one by Savor Easy on YouTube, I have tried them a couple of times and they always come out perfect.
Step 1
In a medium-sized mixing bowl, add the milk and egg, then beat them together until well combined, and reserve 2 tablespoons for the eggwash later. In the remaining egg mixture, add the sugar and instant yeast, then whisk them all together until well combined and incorporated, and then add the bread flour and salt. Fold them together until combined and the dough starts to come together, then add the unsalted butter, and continue to mix until fully combined and absorbed.

Step 2
Transfer the dough to a lightly floured counter, then knead until smooth and elastic, and then flatten the dough with proofing. Divide the into 6 pieces evenly, then smoothen and shape each into a ball, and cover them for about 15 minutes. Take one piece of dough, then roll and flatten with its smooth side down, and press the edges as shown in the video. Roll it into a log, then pinch the edges to seal, and repeat the same process with the rest of the dough.
Step 3
Lay them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, then cover them with plastic, and place them in the refrigerator to chill for at least 8 hours or up to overnight. In the morning, take it out of the refrigerator and allow it to rest on the counter for about 30 minutes, then add a tablespoon of milk to the reserved egg mixture, and beat them together to combine. Once the dough has risen, brush them with the eggwash, then place them in an oven preheated for about 15 minutes, and allow them to bake at 180°C or 350°F for 15 to 18 minutes. Brush them with melted butter, then serve, and enjoy!
