Ingredients:

  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • ¼ cup molasses
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon hot sauce
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2½ teaspoons cajun seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 3 pounds chicken, skin on and bone-in

Directions:

In a large mixing bowl, combine the tomato sauce, molasses, Worcestershire sauce, hot sauce, brown sugar, cornstarch, salt, cajun seasoning, paprika, and garlic, mix the ingredients together using a whisk until it becomes smooth and fully combined. You can also use a blender instead if you’d like, simply puree the ingredients until smooth. Preheat your oven to 400 degrees, then lightly grease a baking sheet or 9×13 pan with butter or cooking spray.

Step 2

Divide the sauce mixture in half into 2 separate bowls, set the other half aside, and reserve it for later. Place the chicken pieces in the greased baking sheet, then brush them with the remaining half of the sauce. Bake it in the preheated oven at 400 degrees for about 20 minutes, then flip all of the pieces, and baste them with the reserved sauce. Continue baking them for another 20 minutes or until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F. Switch your oven to a broiler setting and broil the chicken for about 2 to 3 minutes until the sauce caramelizes. Best served while hot.
