The other day, I was looking for a gorgeous quilt pattern I could do to give to my mother on her birthday. While browsing Youtube, I came across this orange peel quilt from Missouri Star. I instantly fell in love with the pattern, but I got worried as it looked complicated. Nevertheless, I still tried it, and boy, was it easier than it looked. Who would have thought this was a beginner-friendly quilt? It’s so pretty: I’m sure my mom would gush over this! I was able to finish this in less than a day, and I’m super satisfied with the outcome. Now I can’t wait for my mom’s birthday so I can show her this. Watch the video tutorial below to learn how to make this.
Take one of your layer cakes, fold it in fourths, place the orange peel template on top, then cut. Do the same thing on your fusible interfacing. After this, put a little slit in the center of one of the interfacing pieces, put the sticky side on the right side of the printed orange peel pieces, then sew the edges on the sewing machine. Repeat this step for the rest of the remaining pieces.

Once finished sewing, flip them all right side out and stick them to your white squares, lining them up from corner to corner. Press it afterward, then top stitch along the edges of the orange peel. Once you have all the pieces, sew them in a four-patch to make the block, then press. To make the quilt top, lay seven blocks down and six across. Sew the rows together, and you’re done.
