Recently, I’ve been into pies and have tried different flavors from fruits to chocolate, and one of my all-time favorites is a buttermilk pie. What I love about this specific pie is its simplicity and rich creamy taste, personally, I prefer a custard type of pie just like this one and would order them often.

I have been trying to make pies on my own at home because I can save money that way and I can also have them whenever I want without having to travel to the cafe or restaurant. Ingredients for Old-Fashioned Buttermilk Pie:

  • ¼ cup of all-purpose flour
  • 4 ounces of real unsalted butter
  • eggs
  • 1 tsp of vanilla
  • 1 tsp of nutmeg
  • 1 cup of buttermilk
  • uncooked deep pie crust

Step 1

In a large bowl, add the flour and sugar, then give them a quick mix, and set them aside.

Step 2

In a separate mixing bowl, add the butter, eggs, vanilla, and buttermilk, then beat everything until well combined, and then slowly add in the flour mixture.

Step 3

Continue to beat until incorporated and smooth, then pour the batter into the prepared pie crust evenly, and then place it in the preheated oven.

Step 4

Allow it to bake for about 30 to 45 minutes or until it’s firm to touch, then serve, and enjoy!
