Start by peeling the bananas and slicing them in half lengthwise.
Melt 1 1/2 tablespoons of butter into a pan. Once melted, add 1 tablespoon of brown sugar and stir constantly until melted and looks like caramel.
Add the bananas over the caramel sliced side down. Turn off the heat and let it sit while making the cake batter. The whole pan should be covered with banana slices. Add more if needed.
Make the cake batter. In a large mixing bowl, add the egg and sugar. Whisk until combined.
Whisk in the oil, milk, and vanilla extract.
Sift the flour, baking powder, and cocoa powder directly into the mixture. Whisk until well incorporated and smooth.
Pour the cake batter over the bananas and spread evenly. Cover with the lid and cook for 20 to 25 minutes on your stovetop over low heat. To check if it’s done, a toothpick inserted in the center should come out clean.
To remove from the pan, place a plate on top and turn it upside down. Serve and enjoy!
