Lemons are not only delicious but are also effective when used in cleaning. They can make anything smell fresh and delicious and they can restore your favorite chopping boards, pots, or pans sparkling clean again. The steps are also pretty simple and easy to follow, plus, this is more inexpensive than store-bought cleaning solutions. You should definitely give these life-changing hacks by Natural Cures on YouTube a try and see which one of these tips works best for you!
Tip #1: General Cleaning
Lemons contain acid that is great in effectively cleaning and removing any dirt and stain found on any surface. Simply dilute freshly squeezed lemon juice in water, then dab a clean cloth in the solution, and rub it on the fat or grease stains until completely removed. For tougher stains or grease found on pots and pans, rub half a lemon directly on steel wool before washing them as usual.
Tip #2: Floor, Sink, Stove, Wooden Boards, etc.
Make your own homemade cleaning product by simply placing a couple of lemon peels in a glass jar, then add enough white vinegar until the peels are completely covered, and allow it to sit for about 2 weeks before straining the liquid and mixing it with equal parts of water. For wooden boards, just sprinkle some sea salt, squeeze some lemon juice, then allow it to sit for at least 5 minutes, and proceed to scrape off the dirty liquid off the board. Give it a good rinse with warm water, then scrub it with a clean sponge or cloth, and you’re done!
Tip #3: Absorbing Odor
If your refrigerator is becoming stinky or is not as fresh-smelling as it used to be, then place some lemon peels inside, and allow it to absorb all of the bad odor until they are completely gone. Replace the lemon peels and repeat the process as needed. You can also use this method with your trash can or any area where there is an unpleasant odor.
Tip #4: Stainless Steel Cookware
Fill the pot with enough water to cover the crusty and burnt bottom, then cut 1 or 2 unpeeled lemons into large pieces, and place them inside the pot. Bring it to a boil then allow it to simmer, and turn off the heat. Let it cool off, then throw out the water and lemon pieces, and gently scrub the bottom of the pot with a soft brush or sponge. Give the pot a good rinse with cold water and you’re done!
