Sauce
Step 1
Clean and prepare the chicken, then season them with all-purpose seasoning and chipotle powder, and toss them together until well coated. In a mixing bowl, add the buttermilk, chipotle powder, cayenne pepper, all-purpose seasoning, and hot sauce, then whisk them together until incorporated and uniform, and set it aside. In a large Ziploc bag, add the flour, all-purpose seasoning, cayenne pepper, and chipotle powder, then shake the bag well until well combined.

Step 2
Place the chicken in the buttermilk, then let it marinate for about 4-5 hours, and once ready place the soaked chicken in the Ziploc bag with the flour mixture. Seal the bag making sure to leave enough air inside, then give it a good shake until well coated, and then place them in a wire cooling rack while preparing the sauce, you should also heat up the oil for about 7-9 minutes at this point.
Step 3
In a blender, add the chipotle peppers, chicken broth, ketchup, and apple cider vinegar, then blend them together until smooth, and then strain them with a mesh strainer over a measuring cup. Place a saucepan on a stove, then pour the sauce, and let it cook for about 5-10 minutes while stirring it consistently until reduced. After a few minutes, add the honey, then continue to let it cook for about 2-3 minutes until thickened, and put it back in the measuring cup.
Step 4
Let the sauce cool for 20-30 minutes while frying the chicken. Heat up some oil until 350 degrees, then start deep frying the chicken making sure to not overcrowd the pan, and once golden brown and crispy, scoop them out of the oil using a spider or a slotted spoon. Transfer the cooked chicken on a wire rack to drain off excess oil, then put them on a serving plate, and serve with the sauce as a dip or toss them in it until covered. Enjoy!
