There are a lot of different ways that you can cook ham but if you want something simple and classic but with a fun twist, then check out this honey bourbon glazed version by Smokin’ & Grillin with AB on YouTube. It’s very tasty and you’d surely receive a lot of compliments from your guests.
Step 1
Preheat your oven to 350°F, then pour 1 cup of pineapple juice to your roasting pan, and place a rack on top. Place the ham on the rack with its cut-side facing down, then score the ham’s fat with a diamond pattern about ¾-inch deep, and insert cloves in each out intersection.
Step 2
Arrange the pineapple slices on top of the ham, then secure them with toothpicks, and loosely cover the ham with foil. Place it in the preheated oven, then let it bake for about 20 minutes or until warmed through, and while waiting, prepare the glaze.
Step 3
In a saucepan, add the honey, brown sugar, bourbon, butter, and ¼ cup of pineapple juice, then place it on a stove over medium-high heat, and stir them until the mixture comes to a boil. Allow it to bubble for about 2 minutes, then remove it from the heat, and set it aside.
Step 4
After baking the ham for 20 minutes, remove the foil, then brush the glaze over the ham, and cover it with the foil again. Let it continue to bake making sure to baste with the glaze every 20 to 30 minutes, then once the ham reaches an internal temperature of 130°F, remove the foil, and apply the final layer of glaze.
Step 5
Set the oven to a high broil, then let the ham cook for an additional 3 to 5 minutes or until caramelized, and make sure to keep an eye on it so it doesn’t burn. Once the ham reached an internal temperature of 135-140°F, remove it from the oven and tent it with foil, then let it rest for about 15 to 20 minutes, and start slicing it. Serve and enjoy!
