Step 1

Start with a slip knot, then attach it to the peg on the side of the loom, and then cast on the strand. Wrap your working strand clockwise around each peg until you reach the start point again, then bring the yarn to the front, and make a half wrap. Take the hook and take the first loop, then knit it over, and do it all the way around.

Step 2

Alternate between a knit stitch (the one you just did) and a purl stitch (the one you’re going to do next), bring the stand in the front, then get the hook underneath the loop, pull up the yarn you’re working on, and make a new loop at the top.

Step 3

Pop the new loop on the peg, then repeat all the way around alternating it with a knit stitch, and do this layer 6 times. Once you finish the brim, push it down, then proceed with the body, and start wrapping the yarn clockwise all the way around.

Step 4

Take the lower loop up and over, then do that all the way around, and repeat with 2 rounds of that full wrap and 1 round of the purl. Keep repeating the purl rounds until the body is about 8 inches long, then finish it off with 2 rounds of full knit, and cut the excess yarn leaving a long tail to work on.

Step 5

Grab a yarn needle, then sew from the bottom upwards as shown in the video, then pull and cinch tightly, and push the yarn inside the hat. Sew the hole closed, then trim the excess tail, and attach a pom pom or faux fur ball at the top of the hat. Add more embellishments of your choice and your hat is ready to wear.
