You’ll Need:

  • water
  • baking soda (or laundry detergent)

Directions:

Step 1

First, take out any burnt food scraps that can be removed easily with a spoon. Next, fill the pot with tap water, covering the burnt area completely, then place it on the stovetop. Set the heat on high, then add two to three tablespoons of baking soda. Mix it a bit, then wait for the water to boil.

Step 2

As soon as the water starts to boil, reduce the heat to low, and leave it simmering for ten minutes (if your pot is thick-bottomed, leave it for 20 minutes). After ten minutes, check if the burnt part is still hard using a spoon. If it’s still hard, boil it again on high heat, then turn it down to low and simmer for another five minutes. Once done, drain the pot through a sieve, then just scrape the remaining burnt parts with a spoon or a scrubber easily. Wash the pot with your dishwashing liquid and rinse to finish it off.
