Ingredients for Garlic Butter Whole Baked Fish:
- 1.6 pounds of whole fish, scaled, gutted, and cleaned
- 1½ tsp of kosher salt
- ½ tsp of black pepper
- 2 tbsp of extra virgin olive oil
Stuffing
- ½ cup of fresh dill sprigs, packed
- ½ cup of parsley leaves, packed
- 4 cloves of garlic, finely sliced
- 1 lemon, sliced
Dill Garlic Butter
- 10 tbsp of unsalted butter, cut into cubes
- 2 tsp of garlic, finely minced
- 1 tbsp of fresh dill, finely chopped
How to Make Garlic Butter Whole Baked Fish:
Step 1
Preheat your oven to 430°F, then line a baking sheet with parchment paper, and set it aside. Cut off all the fins of the fish using scissors, then cut 3 slashes on each side of the fish cutting through the flesh and down to the bone, and season it lightly with some salt.
Step 2
Fill the cut parts with garlic slices, parsley, and dill, then layer the lemons on top of the herbs, and then tie the fish with kitchen strings as shown in the video.
Step 3
Sprinkle the remaining salt and pepper on both sides of the fish, then drizzle it with olive oil, and transfer it to the prepared baking sheet.
Step 4
Place it in the preheated oven, then allow it to bake for about 20 minutes or until the internal temperature has reached 131°F, and then transfer it to a serving platter once done baking.
Step 5
Let it rest for around 5 minutes, then while waiting for the fish to cool down, place a saucepan on a stove over medium-high heat, and melt the butter.
Step 6
Add the garlic and stir it consistently, then let it cook for about 45 seconds to 1 minute until fragrant, then turn off the heat, and transfer the sauce to a small serving bowl. Serve the fish with the dill garlic butter on the side and enjoy!
