As a kid, I ate a lot of chocolate pudding pie because my Mom used to prepare this for me and my siblings frequently, and now that I’m all grown up, it remains one of my all-time favorite pie flavors. Whenever I’m craving this cold dessert, I always make it using this recipe by RecipeTin Eats on YouTube, it is super easy to follow and it tastes just as good as what my Mom used to make for us, but of course, nothing beats the original for it is made with love! However, if you’re looking for a go-to recipe that you can use, then check out this one, and give it a try.

Step 1: Crust
Add the Oreo cookies to a food processor, then pulse them until fine crumbs, add the butter, and continue to pulse until well combined. Transfer it to a pie dish, then spread it evenly, and press at the bottom up to the sides. Place it in a preheated oven to bake at 180°C or 350°F for around 10 minutes, then press it down gently with a rubber spatula, and allow it to cool on the counter while preparing the filling.
Step 2: Filling
In a large saucepan, add the cornstarch, sugar, and salt, then give them a good whisk before adding the milk, cream, and egg yolks, and then continue to whisk until combined. Place the saucepan on a stove over medium-high heat, then let it warm up while whisking now and then for about 3 to 5 minutes, and then turn the heat to medium-low.

Start to whisk constantly until it begins to thicken, then after about 6 minutes, pause whisking, and once you see slow bubbles, whisk them constantly for 45 seconds before turning off the heat. Add the butter, chocolate, and vanilla extract, then keep whisking them until melted and smooth, and pour it into the baked and cooled crust making sure to smoothen the surface.
Step: Serving
Gently place a round piece of parchment paper on top, then let it cool down on the counter for 2 hours before placing it in the refrigerator, and then let it continue to chill and set for 12 or more hours until completely set. In a large mixing bowl, beat together the heavy cream, white sugar, and vanilla extract over high speed for about 2 to 3 minutes until soft peaks start to form, then carefully peel off the paper on the pie, and spread the whipped cream on top. Grate the chocolate over the top, then slice, and serve. Enjoy!
