Do you love quilting or do you want to start with your first quilt but having no quilting machine is stopping you? Well, don’t, because there are other ways that you can do a motion quilt using a simple sewing machine at your home. You might be even surprised to learn that this technique is actually easier and more simple than you think, you won’t even need any prior skills to do this because you can definitely get the hang of it pretty much in just a few minutes. If you don’t believe me, then you better check out this video tutorial by Fat Quarter Shop on YouTube and start working on your quilt now! I hope you enjoy and find this tutorial as helpful as I did.
Step 1
Secure your quilt pieces together using some safety pins to avoid them from shifting as you move them around, then make sure that your feed dog is in a normal position, and attach your walking foot to make sure that the tension is distributed all over the quilt is even.

Step 2
Divide your quilt into 3 sections horizontally and visually, then draw on a piece of paper, and practice the swirls and motion that you will do later until you get the hang of it. Once ready, insert the quilt piece into the machine, then start quilting using the motion that you practiced on the paper, and make sure to remove the pins as you go.
