Materials for a Four-Fabric Quilt Block:

How to Make a Four-Fabric Quilt Block:

Step 1

Cut the fabrics to size, then take the 3-inch dark and background squares, and turn them into a total of 48 half-square triangles. To make the half-square triangles, lay one dark and one background fabric together with their right sides facing, then line them in half diagonally on the wrong side, and stitch on either side of the line.

Step 2

Cut them apart along the marked line, then press them open, and trim them off into 2-inch squares. Stitch two half-square triangles at the center of two background strips as shown in the video, and do the same for the remaining half-square triangles and longer background strips.

Step 3

Lay the dark squares to the end of each contrasting dark strip with their right sides facing, then stitch them diagonally, and trim off the excess. Press them open, then stitch together two dark strip units, and make sure that the center forms a triangle shape.

Step 4

Lay the large print block at the center of your work surface, then place one short dark strip on each side, and lay the longer dark strip unit on the top and bottom of the patchwork making sure all of the points at the center are pointing towards the center block.

Step 5

Stitch them together and give them a good press, then lay the shorter light strip units on each side, and the longer light strips at the top and bottom making sure the points are all facing outward. Stitch them together and press as you go.
