Most doors are installed with a threshold which is the hard sill that sits on the floor and a sweep which is a flexible gasket mounted underneath the door slab itself. A problem with either of those two can cause a door gap issue, fortunately, this is very easy to fix, and you won’t even have to call up a professional!

Here’s The Honest Carpenter on YouTube to show you how to easily and quickly repair a gap underneath your door and customize it according to your preference. After this, you won’t ever have to suffer with light, bugs, or water coming in from the gap on your door. Watch the video tutorial below for more details.
Step 1
The most common and simple method that you can try is to adjust the cap that’s usually at the back of the threshold, this is what catches the sweep when you close the door. Look for the round plugs on the cap, then pop it off to see the screw inside, turn that to adjust the cap to the perfect height, and pop the plug back in.
Step 2
Another thing that you should check is your sweeps, sometimes they get too worn out from all of the door closing, and they can get squished and eventually cause gaps that let in light, bugs, or water. Most sweeps can be pulled off quickly with a little pressure, once you manage to do that, replace it with a new one by simply pressing it in.
