Materials:

  • 1 cup of liquid starch
  • ½ cup of flour
  • Embroidery threads, different colors
  • Water balloons
  • Needle
  • Clothespin
  • Mod podge, optional

Directions:

Step 1

Grab a large bowl, then mix together half a cup of flour and one cup of liquid starch until well combined and no visible lumps. Pour and transfer the mixture into a small disposable container, then start piling the string around the edges of the container and let them soak. If you want your eggs to become more solid, then you can add about 2 to 3 tablespoons of mod podge to your mixture. While the thread is soaking, start to blow air into a water balloon until it reaches the desired egg shape.

Step 2

Grab one end of the soaked string and place it on the body of the balloon, then start turning your balloon around to let the string wrap all over in random areas. Move the balloon around to criss-cross the strings, you can also use your hand to wrap the string around if you find it easier. Do the same process with other colors of thread. Once done, use a clothespin to hang the balloons by their excess tail from the knot on its top. Leave it to completely dry overnight until hard to the touch. Then, grab a needle and pop the balloon, and carefully remove it from the inside. Now you can start using the yarn balloons for decoration.
