Materials:

  • 2 different fabrics (of your choice)
  • cardboard
  • clips
  • scissors

Directions:

Step 1

Measure the lining of the inside fabric. The measurements are 33 1/2″ x 10 7/8″ (86.5 x 29cm) while the outside fabric are 33 1/2″ (86.5cm) x 10 (26cm). Now, the lining fabric measure 8 1/2″ (22.5cm). Line this. The next section will be 8 1/4″ (22cm). The third section is again 8 1/4″ (22cm). The fourth section is 8 1/2″ (22.5cm). Fold both fabrics in half, with the wrong side facing out, and sew with a 3/8″ (1cm) seam allowance. Double fold both fabrics on the top, secure it with clips, then and sew all around. Put the fabrics’ wrong sides together, then match the seams and the bottoms. (The lining fabric will be longer on the top.) Sew in the seam through both fabrics. After this, sew along the first line you made earlier, then also sew along the next 2 lines you measured. You should end up with 4 open sides with 4 corners. Moving on to the bottom part, cut 8 3/4″ x 8 3/4″ (22.5 x 22.5cm) of the fabric you used on the outer side. Clip the bottom 3/8″ (1cm) over one corner line. Fix the bottom square to both fabrics at once, with the right sides together. Sew with 3/8″ (1cm) seam allowance. Sew it until the corner line, then do a zigzag stitch all around.

Step 2

Next, cut 5 pieces of cardboard with measurements of 8″x8″ (20.5 x 20.5cm). Slide them one by one to the pockets. Fold the top over to secure the cardboard. You can insert the bottom cardboard as it is or you can cover it with 8 3/4″ x 8 3/4″ (22.5 x 22.5 cm) fabric. Just use hot glue to attach the fabric to the cardboard. The box is now finished!
