Summertime is the perfect time to chill or relax outdoors, whether it’s your yard, poolside, or garden, but the heat can make this uncomfortable for you unless you’re going for a swim. The best way to keep yourself cool and beat the heat is by having a cold drink or in this case building a portable AC or swamp cooler that you can bring anywhere with you.

Step 1

Drill three small holes in the large bucket for the cool air to pass through and make sure to drill holes above the liner or styrofoam to fit the PVC pipe.

Step 2

Cut the PVC pipe into three 8-inch pieces, then insert the liner into the bucket, and seal the space around the PVC pipe using duct tape, caulk, or sealant.

Step 3

Lastly, cut a hole in the lid for the fan, then add the ice inside the bucket, place the fan on top of the lid right in the hole you cut, and turn on the fan.
