You can give your old string lights a makeover for only a few Dollars and a little effort with this video tutorial by Jay Munee DIY on YouTube! Instead of buying a new set of lights to decorate your house or your backyard for an expensive amount, you can just use an old set of string lights, and give them a new look. You won’t spend a lot on this project because you can purchase the materials at the nearest Dollar store.

Materials:

  • Dollar tree golf balls
  • Green felt
  • Plastic straw
  • String lights or led lights
  • X-Acto knife
  • Hot glue gun and glue stick
  • Green marking pen or washable pen
  • Yellow spray paint
  • Scissors

Directions:

Step 1

Get one piece of a golf ball, then pierce the top of it with an “x” shape using an X-Acto knife, make sure that the x is big enough to fit the bulb of your string light inside, set it aside, and repeat the process with the rest of the balls. Get a plastic straw, then insert the golf balls on each side so that you can hold them easily while you paint them. Now, start spray painting the golf balls, then lay the straw with the painted golf balls on each side on top of a cup, and let them dry completely.

Step 2

While waiting for them to dry, grab a piece of felt, then draw a basic pineapple crown, and cut it out. Cut enough crown for each golf ball, and measure the crown on the string light to make sure that each socket can be covered with it. Once the golf balls are ready, insert them into the bulb of the string lights alternately, then dab some hot glue on top, and place the felt crown at the very edge. Place your new pineapple string lights wherever you want and you’re all done!
