Pillow beds are pretty expensive, but they are good to have, especially if you love hosting overnight movies with friends or family. But worry no more; this DIY pillow bed tutorial from She’s Making Something on Youtube is not just inexpensive – but also super easy to make. Hosting movie nights will never be the same with these DIY pillow beds. Watch the video tutorial below to learn how.
Lay down the fleece blanket on the floor, with the wrong side facing down. Measure it according to the size of the pillow you got and give it some room. In this case, the pillows are 28 inches. The measurement needed then is 27 inches. Fold the blanket in half, making sure it passes 13.5 inches (half of 27 inches), and the fold should be about 18 inches. From the first fold, measure 27 inches and that’s where you will fold again back toward the middle. You now have two folds overlapping in the middle; 27 inches apart. The overlap in the middle should measure at least 6 inches to hold the pillows inside the pockets without velcro or zippers.

First, sew the two end seams. Measure 4 to 5 inches from the edge and secure it with pins. To figure out where the other edge seam should be, measure again all the pockets which are 19 inches apart. So from the first seam, measure 19 inches, then mark it with pins. Sew the blanket on the marked area with pins. After this, cut the excess fleece on both ends. Open up the flaps, grab both corners, and pull them out, flipping it all right side out. Measure the 19-inch spots again to make three more lines of pins. Finally, after sewing the pockets, stuff the fleece with the pillows.
