Want to make your own coaster but think that all those other sewing tutorials are just too difficult and complicated for you? Well, this adorable cat coaster might be the right sewing tutorial you are looking for! This project by Art IDEA on YouTube doesn’t require difficult sewing techniques or tricky folding, you won’t even need a sewing machine for this one. Plus, no need for a pattern or specific measurements, just draw your pattern freely and however you want, then you’re all good!
Materials:
- Felt, gray, white, and pink
- 2 small beads
- Paper
- Scissors
- Cotton stuffing
- Marking pen or pencil
- Needle and matching thread
- Small ribbon and decorative bell
Directions:
Step 1
Draw a simple round shape that is bigger than the base of your mug, then draw four oval shapes for the feet and arms of the cat, and draw a small tail as well. Next, draw a small horizontal oval shape for the cat’s head, draw two ears above it as well, then cut those 2 shapes out. Using the cutout template, trace the shape on felt twice, then cut them all out. Trace the tip of the arms and tail of the cat on white felt for the details, cut 2 small triangles for the inner ears, 2 small round white for the mouth as well, and a small pink triangle for the nose.

Step 2
Then, stack the two felt pieces of the cat’s body together, and sew them around including the white felt cutouts for the details. Sew the inner ear to the felt piece for the cat head as well as the mouth and nose. Sew some whiskers on each side of the mouth, then sew the two head felt together except the top part, and stuff it with cotton. Now, you can sew the top close, then sew 2 black beads for the eyes, and then sew the head of the cat to its body. Insert a small bell in a ribbon, then wrap the ribbon around the neck of the cat.
