You will be making your own pattern for this project. But don’t worry! You will be using the paper gift bag for the guide. All you need to cut it on the sides, and that’s it. No need to measure the sizes one by one. You can choose any size and fabric you want. I’m pretty sure they will no longer return these to you once you give them because they are too adorable.
Note: the size of the gift bag you choose is going to be the size of the finished gift bag

Start by removing the handles.
Cut the center fold on one side, following the line to the bottom. Next, cut along the bottom, right to the corner. Repeat to the other side. Now you have the pattern.
Place it on top of soft and stable and trace all the way around the outside of the bag. Mark where the handles were, where the fold lines were and the seam along the bottom. Cut the pattern.
Place it on top of your fabric. Make sure you have an inch excess all the way around. Sew the two layers together.
Stitch a quarter inch onto the soft and stable all the way around.
Take your lining and place on your work surface right side up. Place the front of the bag right side down. Cut with a seam allowance all the way around at 1/2″. Set aside.
Pin the handles onto the front of the bag, right in the placement that you have. Next, pin the straps out of your way.
Fold the bag in half, right sides together. Sew right beside the soft and stable. Press the seams open.
Take the bottom, and sew right along your soft and stable. Do it on both sides. Turn the bag right side out.
Fold the lining in half and sew 1/2″ seam allowance on one side. On the other side, sew 1/2″ a little bit at the top and a 1/2″ a little bit at the bottom. Press your seams open and flat.
Take the bag and slide it inside the lining. Match up the side seams and raw seams. Sew right beside the soft and stable all the way around.
Turn the bag on the opening. Sew the opening. Top stitch the edges.
Press the sides of the bag just like a paper bag.
