A couple of weeks ago, I noticed that I had a pile of egg cartons and before throwing them out in the trash I thought maybe I could use them for a craft or something. So, like I usually would, I went ahead and browsed the internet for inspiration or ideas that I could use my egg cartons with. The one that stood out to me the most is this DIY realistic rose by Origami Twist on YouTube.

What I loved about this project was how beautiful it looked and how simple it was to make. It is the perfect decor and gift bag filler, and you can use it for a variety of other projects. For me, it was a very brilliant way to reuse egg cartons because you wouldn’t even notice what material the rose was made of, it was that beautiful.
Step 1
Cut the carton apart into individual cups, then take 4 cups, and cut the excess edges making them even. Get one cup, then cut the sides all the way down stopping at the center, and as you flatten them out curve the edges. For one cup, cut 6 petals, for the other cup, cut 5 petals, and for the remaining two cups, cut 4 petals.
Step 2
Paint all of the flowers and let them dry completely, then get the 6-petal one, and add some glue at the center as well as the 2 opposite petals on the side. Pinch the petals with the glue, then bring them to the middle, and crunch them together. Add glue to the next petals, then pinch, and crunch them to the middle again.
Step 3
Continue to adhere the remaining petals to the rose, then attach the 5-petal piece, and keep building up your rose until you’ve used up all the flower pieces. Make sure to position the flowers opposite the previous petals so they fill the gaps as shown in the video.
