This DIY project by Jenna HandCrafts on YouTube is super cute and easy to make, it’s better than any key holders that you can buy from the store. You can make this birdhouse key holder using only cardboard and other items that you can find from the nearest Dollar Store.

Once you learn the basics of making this key holder, you can try to make your own version and personalize it however you want. This would also make a great item to make and sell or give as a gift. Watch the video tutorial below to learn the steps now.
Step 1
Cut the cardboard according to the sizes shown in the video, then join the cardboard pieces for the birdhouses with glue, and let them dry completely. Apply some texture paste to the sides of the birdhouses, then set them aside, and let them dry completely.
Step 2
Join the front and back cardboard base pieces, then cover the sides with texture paste, and let dry completely. Attach the birdhouse pieces to the base using glue, then fill the gaps at the base with texture paste, and proceed to cover the entire base with texture paste.
Step 3
Dip a toothpick or thin piece of stick in water, then make a wood texture over the base, let the texture paste dry until solidified, and sand the rough edges. Using a thinner piece of cardboard, cut out pieces for the door and fence, then connect the fence using a thin piece of wire, and attach them to the birdhouses.
Step 4
Use the air-dry clay to make the birds, then attach them to the birdhouses, and make a few more pieces to make preferred shapes. Let the clay dry completely, then apply a coat of Gesso or white acrylic paint, and let it dry completely.
Step 5
Start painting the key holder however you want, then add some details as demonstrated in the video, and attach the push pins making sure to space them apart evenly. Screw the bracket to the back, then apply a coat of varnish, and once dry, hang the key holder on the wall.
