If sewing is your hobby, then you must have a lot of scrap fabrics that you don’t know how to repurpose yet. This project by Canary Phan is the simplest sewing tutorial that even beginners can find very easy to do. The finished product is also very comfy and snuggly, once you’ve tried this method then you can improvise and tweak it. So gather all of your scrap fabrics and use everything to make a large bed mattress in just a few easy steps. I had fun with this project and I’m thinking of making a bigger one next time. Hope you enjoy this project too!
Step 1
Mark and trace a 20×20 cm (8×8 inches) square on cardboard, then cut it out. Use this template to trace several squared pieces from fabric scraps. Cut them out until you’ve made about 110 pieces of square fabrics. Pair 2 fabrics together and make sure that their right sides are facing each other, sew around with a ½ inch seam allowance, leave a 2-3 inch gap unsewn for turning the fabrics later.

Step 2
Once you’re done sewing all of the fabrics together, turn them with their right side out, then poke the corners nicely. Insert poly-fil stuffing until they’re fluffy enough to your liking. Sew around the fabric including the gap with a ¼ inch seam allowance. Join and sew the seams together using a zigzag stitch, you can arrange the rows and columns whichever way you like.
