Growing up I used to watch a lot of Disney movies and until now most of them are still my favorites. What I love about these movies apart from their stories and eye-catching visuals is how good the food actually looks, and I always wondered what would those dishes taste like in real life.

Now that I’m fairly good at cooking, I decided why not try to recreate one of my all-time favorite Disney food? I went and searched the internet for a good copycat recipe that I could try, and I found this one by Preppy Kitchen on YouTube! It was so good and worth every effort and time, you should try it out, too.
Ingredients for Disney Copycat Beignets:
- ¾ cup of warm water
- ½ cup of granulated sugar
- 2¼ tsp of active dry yeast
- 1 large egg, at room temperature
- ½ cup of milk, at room temperature
- 2 tsp of vanilla extract
- 3 ¾ cups of all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp of salt
- 3 tbsp of unsalted butter, at room temperature
- Vegetable oil, deep frying
- ½ cup of powdered sugar
How to Make Disney’s Beignets:
Step 1
In a large bowl or bowl of a stand mixer, add the warm water, yeast, and half the sugar, then beat them for about 5 minutes, and set it aside. In a separate bowl, mix together the flour and salt, then set them aside, and check if the yeast mixture is bubbly.
Step 2
Once ready, pour in the milk, vanilla extract, remaining sugar, and egg, then whisk them together until combined, add half of the flour mixture, and continue whisking until smooth.
Step 3
Add the remaining flour, then beat over medium speed until the dough comes together, and then add in the butter making sure to keep mixing for 4 more minutes until smooth.
Step 4
Transfer the dough to a lightly oiled bowl, then cover it, and set it aside in a warm place for at least 2 hours or until double in size.
Step 5
Place a large pot on a stove over medium-high heat, then fill it with oil until 3 inches high, while heating the oil to 360°F, cover the wire cooling rack with a few paper towels.
Step 6
Roll the dough on a well-floured surface until ½-inch thick rectangle, then cut it into squares at about 2 to 2½ inches, and start frying the beignets 3 to 4 at a time until the bottom is puffed and golden.
Step 7
Flip them over, then cook them until the other side is nicely browned, and scoop them out of the oil with a slotted spoon. Transfer them onto the prepared rack, then dust them with powdered sugar, and serve. Enjoy!
